▷ Visit Texas's toll pass page for complete information about compatible passes on the Sam Houston Tollway.
The Sam Houston Tollway is also known as Beltway 8, or BW8. The roadway is a continuous loop around Houston, and it is divided into several sections, including Northeast, Ship Channel, Southeast, Southwest, South, Central and North.
The starting and ending points provided are for reference only, as there is no stopping point on the beltway. For tolling purposes, when you select your entrance and exit, the system will determine the shortest route around the beltway. Once that shortest distance is calculated, the system will provide the toll for that route.
Directions around the loop, itself, are labeled as "clockwise" or "counter-clockwise". When your toll is calculated, the system will display the geographic entrance direction and geographic exit direction, such as "northbound", "westbound", etc. The system will also provide the direction of travel around the loop. For instance, you may enter BW8 traveling northbound, travel counter-clockwise around the loop, eventually exiting southbound. When you calculate your toll, the system will provdie this information.
When you attempt to calculate a toll, if either of your selected ramps does not permit travel in the chosen direction, an error will be displayed. Please, refer to the maps and exits page for this roadway in order to make certain your chosen exits can be used for your travel itinerary.
