The Midtown Tunnel is one of two tunnels connecting Norfolk with Portsmouth via the Elizabeth River. The other tunnel, the Downtown Tunnel, sits just to the south. Together, these routes comprise the Elizabeth River Tunnels.
The Midtown Tunnel is part of US 58. It connects the MLK Freeway and the Western Freeway on the Portsmouth side of the crossing, on the west, with Hampton Boulevard and Brambleton Avenue, on the east side, in Norfolk, just north of downtown.

Tolls on the Midtown Tunnel are calculated based on the number of axles for your vehicle. When counting axles, make certain to count the axles with wheels on the ground, including any axles on trailers you may be towing.
