Gas price trend for week of February 19, 2018

Fort Lauderdale, FL – For the second consecutive week, gas prices gave ground, giving drivers a much-needed break at the gas pump, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The E.I.A.’s weekly fuel-price survey shows the nation’s average gas price fell a nickel per gallon to about $2.56.

Prices fell in every region this week, although the range of price declines varied widely, according to the E.I.A. report. Prices in California, well over the $3.00 mark, only fell about a penny per gallon. Prices across the Midwest plunged over seven cents. For many drivers, the price declines were at or just above the national average, including a six-cent decline across both the Gulf Coast and Lower Atlantic regions.

Truckers got a solid break in prices this week, according to the survey, with diesel prices falling nearly four cents per gallon this week. The national average cost of diesel settled this week at just under $3.03.

Fuel prices for all regions are shown below, as gathered from www.eia.gov.
