Gas Price Report For January 22, 2018

Gas price trend for week of January 22, 2018

Fort Lauderdale, FL – The nation’s gas prices continued rising during the past week, but the spate of weekly increases hit its lowest level in weeks, according to the latest release from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The E.I.A.’s weekly gas price survey shows the pace of increases, at least at the national level, was held to just a penny per gallon, bringing the cost of regular unleaded to $2.57. The Midwest was the only region to enjoy a price decline this week, but that was only to give back about half of last-week’s heart-stopping eight-cent price increase. Elsewhere, prices were up anywhere from a penny per gallon, as across the West Coast, to over a nickel per gallon across the Lower Atlantic states. Truck drivers got little break in prices this week, by the numbers in the E.I.A. report, but not all regions enjoyed a decline in fuel prices. Nonetheless, the nation’s average diesel price held steady at $3.03 per gallon, with price declines of one to two cents from the Gulf Coast to the West Coast. Trucking across the Rocky Mountains got three cents cheaper, per gallon, on the week. Fuel prices for all regions are shown below, as gathered from www.eia.gov.
