Gas Price Report For January 15, 2018

Gas price trend for week of January 15, 2018

Fort Lauderdale, FL – As they started the year, gas prices came out of the second holiday weekend of 2018 with a strong increase, according to the weekly fuel price survey released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The E.I.A. survey shows the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is now nearly $2.56, an increase of nearly four cents over last week. Price changes were strongest across the Midwest, where volatility is normal. Nonetheless, this week’s eight-cent price hike likely stunned drivers, already suffering under potent, back-to-back winter storms. Elsewhere across the U.S., the E.I.A. report details price increases ranging from just under a penny per gallon on the West Coast to between three and four cents per gallon across both the Lower Atlantic and Gulf Coast regions. Prices dipped slightly in New England, according to the E.I.A., the only region to enjoy a price decline. Truck drivers took yet another hit this week, with the national average closing out the week over the three-dollar mark, according to the E.I.A.. The nation’s average cost for a gallon of diesel increased over three cents per gallon this week to settle at nearly $3.03. Fuel prices for all regions are shown below, as gathered from www.eia.gov.
