Gas Price Report For January 8, 2018

Gas price trend for week of January 8, 2018

Fort Lauderdale, FL – Gas prices continued rising during the second week of the new year for most drivers, according to the latest weekly price survey from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. However, mixed regional results kept flat the national gas price average, week on week, where the price for a single gallon of regular unleaded remains $2.50. District by district, the price changes this week were quite mixed, with drivers across the Midwest enjoying about a three cent decline in average regional gas prices. Across New England and the Central Atlantic states, the opposite was true as prices rose well over two cents per gallon. Prices across the West Coast rose nearly four cents per gallon to settle over the $3.00 mark for the first time in several weeks. Truck drivers took another hard hit this week, according to the E.I.A. survey report. The nation’s average cost for a gallon of diesel increased over two cents per gallon this week, with far higher price increases felt across the Central Atlantic and New England states. Nationally, the average cost for a gallon of diesel is now just a fraction of a penny shy of $3.00. Fuel prices for all regions are shown below, as gathered from www.eia.gov.
