Gas Price Report For August 28, 2017

Fort Lauderdale, FL – The price of gas quickly took back the break in increases it had given drivers last week, and then some. The U.S. Energy Information Administration reports the nation’s average gas price lurched upward nearly four cents per gallon, ending the month of August at $2.40 per gallon, with prices closing in on $3.00 per gallon in some regions, particularly along the West Coast.

Prices went up in every region, according to the E.I.A. This week’s pricing survey shows the cost of fuels surged across the Midwest and Lower Atlantic states by six cents; prices were up from three to four cents across New England and the broader East Coast, as well as along the Gulf Coast.

This week’s price of diesel went up about a penny on the week, according to the E.I.A. survey. The national average price of a gallon of diesel is now about $2.61 per gallon. Prices in California are within a half penny of the $3.00 mark, according to the E.I.A.
