The Sun Pass can be purchased at most grocery stores and drug stores in Florida, and depending on the kind you get, a new purchase will cost either $5.00 or $25.00. The difference in price has to do with whether you purchase the regular Sun Pass electronic device, called the Sun Pass Portable, or the miniature, sticky-mount Sun Pass, which is called the Sun Pass Mini.
The Sun Pass Portable is the $25.00 unit, and it can be moved from one car to another. The Sun Pass Mini is a permanently-mounted, miniature version of the Sun Pass Portable, and it can only be used in one vehicle; however, it costs only $5.00 to purchase. With both purchases, you will have to pay 6% Florida sales tax.

SUN PASS MINI
The Sun Pass Mini is great for residents who have only one car, or who wish to have a Sun Pass Mini in each of their cars for rapid, electronic toll payments on Florida's Turnpike.
Sun Pass Mini mounts to your windshield with an adhesive that comes on the device, itself. You peel back the protective coating, mount the Sun Pass Mini to the right or to the left of your rear-view mirror, and the windshield acts as your antenna.
SUN PASS PORTABLE
For frequent visitors to Florida, the Sun Pass Portable is a better choice, because it can be removed from the windshield of the car. The Sun Pass Mini can also be removed, but once you take it off the windshield, it will no longer work!!! This is important to remember when selecting which version to buy.
Sun Pass Portable mounts to your windshield using suction cups on the reverse-side of the Sun Pass. You simply place the Sun Pass Portable on the windshield under, or next to, the rear-view mirror, and it has an internal antenna and transponder that sends a signal to the toll booth when you pass through. Unlike the Sun Pass Mini, the Sun Pass Portable will sound a tone when the toll charge is deducted from your account.
HOW TO I LOAD, OR "CHARGE" A SUN PASS?
After you buy your Sun Pass, you will still have to activate it, then you must add money to it. The minimum amount you can put on your Sun Pass is $10.00.
To begin, you will need to open a Sun Pass account and use your credit card to put money on your Sun Pass account.
IMPORTANT! It usually takes 24 hours for AFTER you FIRST activate your Sun Pass before you can actually use it. After that time, your money will usually be available immediately after reloading, or "recharging" your Sun Pass.
